  • Something we’ve tried to give our children is the appreciation of nature – to notice the movement of a spring breeze or to feel the quiet waters of a high mountain lake. Each in their own way have grown to embrace the gifts of spending time out of doors. No words can describe the feeling of knowing you’ve become one with nature, fully immersed in the stillness
    of it all. I hope we’ve succeeded.

  • Steady and sure must be the steed you trust with a child. One hundred percent trustworthy, calm and kind. No less will do. Such is the case with my mule Blossom. Such a sweet kind girl, patient with the kiddos. My granddaughters love her and it’s such a treat to sit upon her back, make the rounds around the corral, and eventually, when they’re old enough and careful – they’ll venture out on their own upon the back of this one who’s worth her weight in gold

• Sego Lilies are native wild flowers found in a number of the western states. Thought to be sacred to many Native Americans. The word Sego is thought to mean edible bulb.  The plant thrives in the arid, desert-like regions.

The Story:

The rider is holding up the sheep as they water and rest up. They’ve been trailing all day and will soon bed down on the bedding ground.  This keeps the sheep together and prevents some from wandering off.

The Red Angus cows is a hardy cow on the open range. Her baldy calf at her side, out of a Hereford bull, is the optimal cross.

The Story:

Plumbago Canyon road breaks off of Hwy 34 on the way to Wheatland, Wyoming just before you crest Morton Pass.  We travel up this road 6 miles to our place.  like any place, each day brings a new setting with the light casting it’s cloak upon the country side.

The Story:

This Rambouillet Ram shows his grand presence.  Hardy and tough, these sheep are found in many open range flocks across the western states.

Hay bales cast shadows upon the meadow as the sun dips below the western horizon.  Serene and tranquil. All is at peace.

The Story:

Scattered across the high plains of the west are livestock handling corrals. Used for receiving and loading out livestock from their summer range, these structures tell stories and stand watch all year long.  Cattle, sheep, lunches, brandings and gatherings – these corrals are essential for the livestock producers of the west.  The beginnings of winter snow lay about these corrals as they brace for more storms to come. Strong and sturdy, these edifices mark time waiting for warmer days, green grass and next years crop of calves or lambs.
